KISS (Keep It Simple for Search engines)

There are thousands of web pages like yours but if you keep it simple you can get an edge in the search engine ranking.

Web Site Size matters:

Search engines love content so if your site has little content and some one else's has a lot, they have the advantage. If you can offer a free resource on your page you can make up for lack of content Like lots of pictures?
Not good; lots of graphics, bells and whistles, won't make up for lack of content. In fact you will be at a disadvantage when it comes to search engine rankings.

Dynamic Web Pages?

The majority of your site pages are generated by a data base? Many of your pages may not get indexed at all as data base page generation makes very long URLs, too long for a search engine to read. Keep a few static pages and use them to gain your search engine edge.

Clean HTML Code is a must!!

Although many popular word processors ca easily export their content to HTML they create all sorts of "garbage Code" which severely handicaps the search engine's ability to properly list your site. The real content gets lost and replaced with useless extra code.

Choosing a Domain Name

When choosing a domain name, you should pick either your business name or a brief description of your products. Domain names can always help with search engine position as the domain name is the first factor a search engine checks to determine the web site position.

Update Your Information

Not only does information printed two or three years ago look bad for your organization when someone reads it: the web site with dated material is penalized by the search engine. Web sites that continuously update and revise their content usually experience higher rankings than stagnant, dated sites. Every time you update site content the search engine returns to spider your site. Consider creating a section of your site devoted to news within your organization, or have a constantly updated resources area to encourage return visits
