Spyware, Adware and Virus Problems?

There has been a noticeable increase in my e-mail, at various addresses of, virus and adware. I now use a number of software programs to "clean out the trash". There are four steps you can take to ensure that you too, are not a victim of these predators. These steps are:
1. Install a good anti-virus program.
2. Install Spybot Search and Destroy.
3. Install Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
4. Keep everything up to date

There are now a number of good antivirus programs available and anyone who is on the Internet should have anti virus installed and updated regularly. The two most popular programs are McAfee and Norton. If you are on high speed service (always on) it is a good plan to also have installed personal fire walls on all your machines connected to the Internet. Spybot Search and destroy is a free spyware that you can obtain at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/. Donations are appreciated.

A third piece of software, assuming your Windows operating system is legal, is the Microsoft Antispyware. You can download this from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/. Note Microsoft will check your Windows operating system to ensure that it is legal before Microsoft allows you to download their antispyware program.

"Last, but certainly not least, you absolutely must keep your operating system, anti-virus and anti-spyware products updated. Microsoft releases patches and updates to all currently supported versions of Windows almost weekly. Use the "Automatic Update" feature to make sure you get them, or check manually at least once a week through Internet Explorer's >Tools >Windows Update menu option". Site-pro news Oct. 6 2005.
