Yahoo's Personalized Web Search

Yahoo.comn is first off the block with a personalized web search program. It can be seen at http://www.virtualcommunity.ca/websearch.html. The yahoo mywebsearch saves your search history and makes personal, complete copies of an unlimited number of important pages. The saved information is stored online, so you can access it from any computer any time by logging in to your free Yahoo account. One click of a prominent "Save to My Web" button on the Yahoo Toolbar saves the current page (text, graphics and HTML), along with any comments you choose to add. Users can then search those stored pages as if they were part of the users own personal Web.

Once you install the third party "import bookmarks" by Yahoo you can then copy your favourite bookmarks to the Yahoo My web search. This takes two steps 1) Import bookmarks to myyahoo.com (the older search page) 2) Then go to the mywebsearch (the beta version) and click import bookmarks. The bookmarks will be imported into your myweb (the beta edition) search page. These imported bookmarks will appear on the left hand side of the mywebsearch page. Click on one and it will produce the list of links on the right hand.

The big advantage of personalizing your web searches is all your web pages, links, graphics you have found are saved on the Yahoo servers and not your home computer.
