Automatic Site submission softwareIts official; automatic site submission software has been black listed by Alta Vista. Other search engines will soon follow, so forget that offer to submit your site to 50,000 search engines, its all baloney. At the Boston Search Engine conference, last week, AltaVista mentioned the new add url process was specifically intended to deter all automated submission software. The reason is simple - automated submission software generates the majority of spam in the engines. In fact, AltaVista stated that 99.9% of all their submissions come from some form of automated software and 95% of all those submissions are spam. As for submission software, it is on a demise as software that spams the search engines or allows overzealous end users to spam the engines will now be ignored. Position Pro, (http://www.positionpro.com), a paid submission service ($349 per year US) uses a non spaming method to list your site in the major search engines. If you wish to be listed in search engines, and do well in your positioning you need to spend a great deal of time on determining key words, regular updates of the site, links and individual hand submissions. All of the expedited (pay for listing) submission services (Yahoo,Looksmart, NBCi) and paid inclusion services (Inktomi) are cost effective. A site can't rank unless it's in the databases. The paid inclusion programs guarantees that your site is in the database |
